O<\/span>nce upon a distant All Hallows Eve night, when the crisp fall night air showed one\u2019s ghostly breath, a boy named Jack was out and about trick-or-treating. In the costume he donned it was warm and toasty.  He had made the costume himself out of old moving boxes: He was a giant square pumpkin.  Goofy, you say, eh? More like clever:  Built into the costume were dozens of secret compartments that hid all sorts of precious candy from the mean teenaged bullies that roamed the neighborhood on Halloween night stealing all the candy from the smaller children.<\/p>\n

One All Hallowed Night Eve, ever so many moons ago, a young orphan named Jack, dressed in a costume of his own making, stood in a barren cemetery at the foot of a small, almost hidden tombstone. To most children, a graveyard is a frightful place, especially on this night of all nights. However, to this boy, it was no such thing. Leaning down, he placed some small candies neatly in a pile: an offering to the departed. Each October 31st<\/sup> before midnight, he would make the trek to his mother\u2019s gravesite to share the Halloween goodies. \u201cI promise to bring more tonight,\u201d he whispered. <\/p>\n

              One fateful Halloween night, when Jack was very young, he lost his mother. She had promised the best night ever, all the treats he could eat, and showed him three glowing jellybeans\u2013telling her little son that they were magic<\/em>. He had scattered memories but remembered delicious goodies, candy rain, then terrible laughter, screams, and thunderous shaking. He ran and hid under the bed, and that is where his memories stop. <\/p>\n
