¡Rumbelina! vs. Thumbelina.

Once upon another story, a tiny girl named Thumbelina whined and cried her way through life’s trials and tribulations. Boo Hoo! Then got lucky in the end when she was made Queen of Flower Fairies. Riiiiiight. That collective moaning you hear is the disbelief of children everywhere.

This is not the story of a little whiner cousin (twice removed) Thumbelina, but Rumbelina. Small in stature, potent by nature. Being the smallest is not the easiest, but this is the story of how a little peanut rose to the top of the wrestling to take her place with the big dogs – or in this tale – the place of a Big Frog.

One with delusions of championships and of matrimonial bliss with all the girls in the village of Luchalibres. Sometimes you don’t kiss the frog–you kick him! Repeatedly. In public. Especially after the displays of arrogance, meanness, underhanded dealings, cheating during a championship, taking over the town, of which he attempted to marry all the maidens at the same time. Which I, (though no legal expert), am pretty sure that even is legally shady in all dimensions, known or unknown.

Also, luck is not a winning strategy. She earned her title championship one smack-talking vegetable at a time. Sometimes crying, whining, and other forms of polite, educated discourse is not always an option….

Once upon a delightful dimensional vacation, I sat down to interview the famous Rumbelina and her second cousin, twice removed, Thumbelina. A pint-sized comparison of little damsels.
